A post-apocalyptic dark comedy, The Responsibilities of Men chronicles the day-to-day existence of the last man on earth, still trapped by the mundane rituals of his former life. Unable to cope with his reality, he chooses to blind himself by engaging in the meaningless traditions of a former world. Destined to repeat his mistakes forever, he must choose between a comfortable lie and the heartbreaking truth.
Shot in Rock Island, Illinois, The Responsibilities of Men uses digital effects to turn the city and some major Quad Cities landmarks into a desolate end-of-the-world wasteland. It uses dry humor and strange imagery to address underlying issues about society. It has screened at several film festivals and has been awarded first place at two student film festivals.
