Loud: Compressed Charcoal on Paper

For this drawing, we were given the title of the piece in advance, and told to design an image to fit. This to me seemed like a fitting image evocative of the word loud.  I took reference photos of my mouth and hand with the same light source and general camera angle and composted the two into a single image.  I’m really happy with the image as a whole; I like the visceral quality and tension it captures.  In terms of craftsmanship, I also was very satisfied with the realism of the harsh lighting and the folds and wrinkles of skin on the hand.
