Flashlight Narrative: Chalk on Black Paper

This was a project where we were instructed to create an image where the only source of light was a flashlight, and that the flashlight had to be a part of the image.  Furthermore this image was to suggest a narrative of some sort to the viewer.  The narrative here is pretty basic.  A figure reaching for something in the dark, stretching to grasp some unknown object, creates many possible questions.  There isn’t a specific story implied here, nor did I have one in mind when I created the drawing.  I simply wanted to have an element of interest which made the viewer curious as to what this person might be reaching for.  I wanted to allow the viewer to create a story for themselves rather than trying to spell out something clearly to them.
